Biography
 

Andrew Vernon (b. 1982) is a composer and pianist residing in Berkeley, Ca. He is a graduate of the Music Technology program at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA studying composition with David Stock and jazz piano with Ron Bickel. A year after moving to the Bay Area to obtain a Masters in Music Composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Andrew was hired to work as an Assistant Sound Editor at Pixar Animation Studios, thus taking a leave of absence from school.

Andrew has composed music for many different avenues writing for film and for concert performances. Recent compositions include the score, sound design, and mixing for the film Die Mekaniks, directed by Rowan Brooks, a concept piece for small orchestra and theremin/synthesizer inspired by "B" science fiction movie music called Totally Destroyed! , and a piece for viola and electronics called Reflections on Stillness and Energy. Andrew performed the theremin and synthesizer and manipulated the electronics himself for all of these performances. A piece for choir titled A Feathery Shadow Gliding will premiered at the San Francisco Conservatory in May of 2008.

Andrew wrote the music for two Run and Gun short films which received their premiers at the Great Lakes Film Festival in Erie, PA, Dualife and An Artisan of Tangibles . The string quartet, Reflections on the Color Green, was featured in the 2008 film, The Invisible Forest, by acclaimed director, Antero Alli. It premiered in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Oakland in the Spring of 2008. Andrew wrote music for Iran (is Not the Problem) which premiered at the Victoria Theater in San Francisco on April 27th, 2008.
